In 2010 East helped 250 people in Africa gain access to the simplest
thing that developed countries often take for granted: clean water.
East’s commitment to “Love for Water” began before our inception
when Rosita Wong, President of East, advocated against the privatization
of water in Kenya as a labor union researcher. East is founded on
beliefs in equality, fair share of resources and care for the Earth.
Every drop counts when: Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases
and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including
war. 90% of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water
and unhygienic living conditions are to children under five years
old. In areas where gathering water is impossible, small-scale private
water distributors charge full market prices, forcing the poorest
households to spend up to 11% of their income on life's most basic
need.
East took its first step in 2010 to push back privatization of
water in Africa by sponsoring a well in the continent through the
non-profit organization, .
Public relations is a PEOPLE business. East is a PEOPLE corporation.
As we promote our clients every day, “Love for Water” is in our
hearts. East looks forward to engaging more partners in the future
to extend the cause.
